Birdman screened at the 2014 Toronto Film Festival and 2014 Venice Film Festival the last weekend of August. From his review of Birdman for IndieWire, Eric Kohn wrote:
“Birdman” creates the illusion that it takes place in real time. But with its relentless pace and bizarre circumstances, it hovers in an off-kilter state, leaving open the suggestion that the entire thing may take place within its protagonist’s head.
