Creative Spark Of Aline Brosh McKenna

Aline Brosh McKenna is an American screenwriter and producer known for The Devil Wears Prada (2006), 27 Dresses (2008) and We Bought a Zoo (2011). She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University, and went to New York City to seek a job in publishing. While there, she did some freelance writing work. A script she wrote during a six-week course in screenwriting at New York University helped her get an agent, and she later moved to Los Angeles, where she has seen several of her screenplays produced. She also wrote an episode of Margaret Cho’s sitcom All American Girl (a994). Read more at Wikipedia.

Screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna (“The Devil Wears Prada,” “We Bought A Zoo”) takes you inside her creative screenwriting process in an exploration of creative spark and where ideas come from. She says about her process: “I can fold it up and then take it to a meeting. I can lay them out for people and sort of show them how I think the whole movie goes. I started doing that instead of cards because the cards, to me, started to feel like it was really defuse and all over the place. I started doing it more that way and it felt more organic to me.”
